League leaders enjoy impressive victory

DEFENDING champions Camps "2" stretched their lead at the top of the Wick and District Pool League first-division table to four points after a convincing 9-2 win over Bayview "1".

James Riach got the Camps "2" side off to a great start with a total clearance from the break. However, Bayview hit back with a total clearance of their own from Alistair Young, ending Alec Thomson’s unbeaten run this season in singles frames.

Wins from Ryan Carter, Bruce Honeyman, David Hendry and Ian Mcdonald helped Camps "2" take a 5-1 lead. The league leaders then saw out the match, which ended in an impressive 9-2 victory.

Colin Banks’ Crown "1" side now climbs to second in the league after a well-deserved 9-2 win against Queen’s.

Alex Rosie was in outstanding form for Blackstairs "2" on Monday night, leaving his opponent with seven balls and leading his team to an 8-3 victory over Seaforth Club.

Blackstairs "1" battled to a 7-4 win over Camps "1". The Camps side fought back from 5-1 down to 5-4, but couldn’t complete the comeback as Blackstairs "1" made sure of the two points.

Stuart Mckenzie was the star player, completing an eight-ball clearance in his trebles frame.

The Commercial are back to winning ways after a well-deserved 8-3 win over Francis Street Club "1".

The top two teams in division two remain on great form with both of them securing the two points this week. Sinclair Bay defeated Crown "2" 6-5, and Harper’s were impressive in an 8-3 win against Bayview "2".
