Stanley Ross returned the best score of 40 points.

PLAYING conditions were a little better for the fourth round of the Newsbeat Summer League at Thurso Golf Club.

 

The majority of golfers played on the Thursday with the best score of 40 points being returned by Stanley Ross.


Players battled a near gale-froce wind. THE second open of the season, the Ricky Shearer Open, was held at Wick last Sunday.

Reay's Evan Sutherland driving at the fourth hole on his way to winning the category one section in the May Medal. GOLFERS competing in the May Medal at Reay on Saturday experienced the four seasons in the space of four hours as periods of bright sunshine were interrupted by several squally showers of snow and hail. Despite the less-than-ideal conditions, a number of good scores were recorded in an event which also doubled up as the first qualifying round for the club championship.

This is an annual social gathering of Mackay family and friends and is now in its ninth year, with some people travelling from Edinburgh and Aberdeen to take part.
