WICK Academy have been given a home draw in the first round of the North of Scotland Cup against North Caledonian League (NCL) champions Invergordon.

The competition has been moved back to the beginning of the season after an experiment to play the tournament at the end of the league campaign was heavily criticised by a number of clubs.

Halkirk United and Thurso FC will not be playing in this season’s competition which is reverting back to a west and east section until the semi-final stage.

Academy will face Invergordon at Harmsworth Park on Wednesday, August 23 with the winners hosting Golspie Sutherland in the quarter-finals on Wednesday, September 6.

If they prevail against the two NCL sides, Academy would face either Lossiemouth or Strathspey Thistle at Harmsworth Park in a semi on Wednesday, October 4
