DESPITE a comfortable victory at Morrison Park, Halkirk United are now out of the North Caledonian League title race.

The Anglers thrashed Golspie Sutherland 4-1 thanks to goals from Grant Macnab, Alan Hughes, Matthew Mackay and Jack Henry.

But Halkirk are now unable to catch league leaders Invergordon who beat St Duthus 1-0.

The Ross-shire club are six points ahead of Halkirk who only have one game remaining.

Invergordon only need one point to win the NCL for the first time since 2002 as Orkney are nine points behind with the islanders having three games remaining.

Thurso 2 Alness United 0.

Thurso remain in fourth after they beat Alness 2-0 at The Dammies with Steven Morris and Michael Petrie scoring to secure all three points.
