THE Renard Ensemble is a London-based wind trio of flute, clarinet and French bassoon musicians.
They were drawn together through friendship and their admiration for each other as musicians, and decided to form the trio in the summer of 2009.
Since then they have given performances at many venues throughout the UK.
They are proud to work for Live Music Now – an organisation which "brings joy and inspiration of live music to those who have limited access to conventional music-making".
They were thrilled to be selected as joint winners of the prestigious Tunnell Trust Award for 2012. The prize was a tour of Scotland this month – in which Thurso is included.
Thurso Live Music Association is delighted to present the event in the town next week.
The musicians are to play trios, duos and solos in many styles of music with works by Mozart and Bach, and also French composers including Devienne and Milhaud.
The bassoonist, Howard Dann, will play a fascinating solo work by Brazilian composer Mignone. Another delight will be the famous sarabande melody "La folia" in a lively arrangement by the French composer, Marais, entitled "Folies d’Espagne".
The concert takes place on Wednesday (February 15) at Thurso West Church at 7.30pm.
