MONEY raised during the testimonial year of Wick Academy’s Gary Manson has been donated to three local charities.
Gary, who has played with the club for 12 years, was awarded the honour last year and a testimonial committee organised a number of events, including a match versus Inverness Caley Thistle and a sportsman’s dinner in November with former Rangers and Scotla
nd keeper Andy Goram as the guest speaker.
Gary told the Caithness Courier: "My testimonial committee did a fantastic job organising all the events and managed to raise a lot of money.
"The committee decided to donate the sum of £1200 to three different local charities. It was felt important to spread the money around so it could benefit as many local people as possible, so each charity will get £400."
The good causes which benefited were Alzheimer Scotland, Thurso and Wick services, the League of Friends for Caithness General Hospital and the local Macmillan nurses.
