Wick Lifeboat was called out for the first time this year.

A FISHING boat which got its ropes tangled between its propellers had to be rescued by the RNLI this week.

The Wick lifeboat was called into action on Wednesday afternoon after it received a distress call from the Golden Dawn.

The crew was sent out in blustery conditions at 1.30pm, five miles north of Noss Head to retrieve the boat which had two people on board.

The vessel was towed back to Keiss harbour where the fishermen are based and arrived at 3.30pm.

Coxswain Iain Cormack said it was the first call out the crew has attended this year.

Despite windy conditions, he said the operation was straightforward and carried out in an efficient manner.
