PROBLEMS with a transmitter in Caithness has resulted in customers not being able to make calls or send messages on their mobile phones.

Vodafone confirmed a problem occurred on Monday at one of its transmission sites and is carrying out investigations to sort the problem.

A Vodafone spokesman said: “We apologise to any customers in the area experiencing an issue with their mobile coverage at the moment.

"Unfortunately, a local mast has developed a transmission problem.

"We want to reassure that we are working hard to restore the issue as a matter of priority and hope to have the network back to normal as soon as we can.”
