WICK lifeboat crew on Monday rescued two men aboard a local fishing boat which was in danger of sinking near the port.

The RNLI volunteers responded to a Mayday from the pair aboard the Sardonyx on Monday who reported the engine room was awash and that they were unable to cope with the inrush of water.

The lifeboat, Roy Barker II, was launched and within minutes was alongside the 12 metre vessel which was in danger of foundering one mile east of Noss Head.
