A THURSO businessman is set to give his company a global boost by attending one of the world’s top executive development courses.

Derek Campbell, of battery and charger manufacturer Denchi Power, will be among 120 taking part in the Entrepreneurship Development Programme at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Boston at the end of January.

Along with four others from the Highlands and Islands, he secured sponsorship from Highlands and Islands Enterprise (HIE) to attend.

He said: “I am really excited by this fantastic opportunity to step back from the daily business and work with MIT to develop our strategic thinking about how we can take Denchi to the next level.”

Keith Muir, HIE’s head of business growth in Caithness and Sutherland, said: “Our relationship with MIT has gone from strength to strength over the past 10 years and has benefited many businesses across the Highlands and Islands.

“I am delighted that Derek has been successful in his application to attend the course which will help him gain the inspiration, confidence and tools to take strategic decisions about the future of Denchi Power.”
