STAFF at the Dunbar Hospital in Thurso are to serve up a treat by holding a vintage-themed tea party in aid of Bowel Cancer UK tomorrow.
Dressed in vintage floral dresses or as turn of the century waiters, the staff will be serving tea and a delicious selection of homemade baking at the Thurso hospital.
As well as raising money for research, the staff hope their efforts will raise awareness about the UK’s second biggest cause of death by cancer.
But it won’t just be unlimited tea and coffee served at the Dunbar
There will also be a number of fun-filled activities that should appeal to make it an ideal afternoon out for all the family.
Taking a light-hearted view of the serious condition, the “tea party” will also include competitions that all ages can participate in.
Senior charge nurse Moira Gallagher said: “For the adults there will be a ‘Lucky Squares’ – style competition which will feature “Where did the ‘Coo’ Poo?"
“And for the younger visitors, there will be the world-famous “Paint a Po" competition, with all the craft materials provided - sequins, pom poms, fabric squares, glitter, glue, sparkles etc., to add some fun frolics to a serious topic.”
Continuing the vintage-theme there is to be home-baking competition featuring four handmade and decorated cupcakes. Judging for this will take place at 2.15 pm.
On top of that, there will be number of raffles with fabulous prizes ranging from pampering products to chocolates, wine, handcrafted jewellery, scented candles, and much more.
The event takes place between 2pm and 4pm on Saturday,
