Support groups urged to join Holyrood protest to fight child abuse

On March 6 there is to be a Worldwide Peaceful Protest Against Child Abuse outside government buildings in over 38 countries around the globe.

One Voice for the Kids campaign chief executive Sam Edwards is calling for abuse groups across Caithness to join the Scottish rally outside Holyrood.

“The purpose of this protest is to raise the much-needed awareness about the effects of all types of childhood abuse and how it irrevocably changes the lives of so many young and vulnerable children around the world,” he explained.

“Imagine a protest so large, all protesting on the same day around the world at as many of the world’s government offices as possible.”

The main aim of the protest is to get people talking about child abuse with a view to forcing changes in what Mr Edwards claimed is a flawed system.

Mr Edwards said the way the Government deals with child abuse is as big a problem as the crime itself as the state often makes inept decisions that have terrible repercussions for a child’s future.
