Wick Academy took Raith Rovers all the way in the Ramsden Challenge Cup tie but the First Division outfit eventually proved too much for the Caithness club.
Raith took the lead in the 39th minute when a Jason Thomson cross was met with confusion from Alan Farquhar and Michael Steven to allow Brian Graham in for an easy tap in.
New signing Lukasz Geruzel sent Harmsworth Park crazy when he equalised after capitalising on a sloppy backpass from Dougie Hill.
The Raith defender redeemed himself five minutes later when he nodded home a Joe Hamill corner.
But another misguided backpass, this time by Grant Murray was seized upon by Davie Allan who rounded goalkeeper David McGurn to bring the game back to level terms.
Wick could have gone ahead moments later when a Farquhar header was cleared off the line by Murray, but the SFL outfit took the lead on the 72nd minute through a spectacular Grant Anderson effort from 20 yards.
The game was put beyond doubt eight minutes before time, when Pat Clarke was met unchallenged in the six yard box to fire home from an Anderson cross to silence the majority of the 980 crowd.
Post match reaction from Davie Kirkwood and Grant Murray in Wednesday's Caithness Courier.
