A RENEWABLE energy company has submitted an application for review to the Highland Council after it was denied approval to build five extra turbines at its wind farm in Caithness.
RES has made the move after its application concerning its site at Forss was rejected by a planning officer using delegated decision-making powers in October.
The planning officer stated the reasons for refusal were made on the grounds of landscape, visual impact and cultural heritage.
Development project manager Graeme Kerr said RES is disappointed with the decision and concerned the application did not go before the local planning committee.
"Both planning applications for Forss I and Forss II went before the local planning committee and local councillors decided on the applications. It is important for councillors who represent the views of the local community to have a say on developments in their local area."
RES currently operates six wind turbines at its site at Forss which produces electricity for 3700 homes.
