A CAITHNESS business is to be featured on television tonight as part of a series being shown on Channel 5.
Cara Young, who has run Puffin Croft at John O’Groats for a year, is looking forward to taking part in the programme which is being aired on Wednesday night
She is to appear on episode three of Starting Up Starting Over, which follows people who quit their jobs and move house to start up their dream business.
Among the new careers are restoring an inn in Scotland, opening a pizzeria in Cumbria, and building a brewery in Malvern.
The series also includes 43-year-old Cara who gave up two decades of working as a nanny for a completely different life.
After the death of her mother, Cara said she decided to follow a childhood dream and live off the land with her own small farm.
Her sister spotted an advert for a farm for sale in John O’Groats and Cara decided to make the move. The television cameras followed her over a six month period for the programme.
The series started in the UK last Wednesday but has already been seen in Holland and Australia.
“I am excited that it is being shown and want to know what is going to happen, what has been left in and what has been cut out,” she told the John O’Groat Journal.
Cara thinks the programme could benefit Caithness.
“I think it could be good for the whole area, make people aware of what’s on offer here and may encourage them to come and sample the area for themselves,” she said.
The former nanny, who worked in New York, Paris and London, runs the croft which incorporates a petting farm, a farm shop and bakery.
She says she has no regrets about the move and has made more friends here in a year than she did in 10 years in London.
The programme can be seen at 7pm on Wednesday, September 6.
