OUTPATIENT and theatre services at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness have been disrupted because of an IT failure.
An overnight flood in the basement has affected a number of computer servers which support the hospital.
Staff have been working throughout the night to put in place paper-based contingency plans for this morning.
But while all inpatients are safe, managers say there will inevitably be problems today in some areas, such as reports and results from X-ray department and laboratories.
A spokesperson said: "It is anticipated that there will be some detrimental impact to outpatient and theatre services, with a team of administrative staff currently contacting people with appointments for this morning.
"If you have an appointment today, or have been asked to attend Raigmore for an investigation or operation please continue with your plans unless contacted."
Outpatients are being assured work is under way to ensure all services resume as quickly as possible and are being asked not to phone the hospital as the
telecommunications systems are also affected. A contact number will be issued as soon as possible.
