A VOUCHER towards dinner at one of the most renowned restaurants in the North is on offer in a prize square fundraiser currently being run by North of Scotland Newspapers for its Charity of the Year initiative.

A meal at the award-winning Captain’s Galley in Scrabster is always a treat and, thanks to the generosity of owners Jim and Mary Cowie, one lucky person will be booking a table to sample the top-class food produced at this acclaimed eatery.

If your tastes run to afternoon tea, then the Castle of Mey is the place to go.

The Queen Elizabeth Castle of Mey Trust has kindly donated a tour of the castle and a cream tea for two at the visitor centre and this can also be won in the quiz square fundraiser.

The castle is a wonderful place to visit. Not only can you see round the late Queen Mother’s beloved holiday retreat but you can enjoy the fantastic walled gardens and browse in the gift shop.

The quality of the food in the centre café has gained it an enviable reputation and cream teas are a firm favourite.

To be in with a chance of winning, pop into the Groat office on Cliff Road, Wick, and put your name on a square. It costs just £1 a go and not only will you have the chance to get a great prize, you will be helping three local groups – Thrumster Park Regeneration Fund, Keiss Family Community Project and Thurso Youth FC – fund much-needed upgrades to facilities for local children.

The office is open from 9am until 1pm and 2pm until 5pm, Monday to Friday.
