A TARTAN and tiara ball staged by a local community group has been hailed as a “tremendous success”.

The event, organised by members of Keiss Family Community Project, was held at the Norseman Hotel in Wick on October 28 and raised £1200 towards the regeneration of the village’s play facilities.

One of the organisers, Vicky Mackay, said: “The ball was a tremendous success – guests dinned on a three-course meal while supping champagne, wine and Old Pulteney liqueur that had all been donated.

“Guests on the night really got into the spirit of the evening, joining in the fun games and then dancing the night away to the band, Jude, who got everyone up on their feet until the early hours of the morning.

“It was a really fun way to raise an enormous amount of money.”

The group is also staging an autumn fayre on November 19 in Keiss hall, while Alternative Vitality in Wick is holding a pamper afternoon on November 25 in aid of the initiative.

The Keiss Family Community Project is one of three schemes being supported by North of Scotland Newspapers’ Charity of the Year initiative. The other two are the Thrumster Park Regeneration Fund and Thurso Youth FC.
