Goldfish thief ordered to carry out unpaid work

MISERABLE and unpleasant were the words used to describe the actions of a teenager who stole three goldfish from a primary school and flushed them down the toilet.

Kevan Fraser (17) of Glamis Road,Wick appeared for sentencing at Wick Sheriff Court on Friday after previously admitting committing the offence at Lybster Primary School in October 21.

Solicitor Neil Wilson said that when the accused flushed them down the toilet he thought they would make their way to sea, but was unaware of how the sewage system worked.

Sheriff Andrew Berry said that Fraser had committed the offence after climbing on top of the school roof and engaged in free running.

He described the accused's actions as unacceptable and inexplicable.

Fraser was sentenced to a one year community payback order 100 hours community service.
