A CONTRACT notice for the improvements at the notorious Berriedale Braes in Caithness has been issued.
The notice, which outlines construction costs of approximately £9 million, invites prospective bidders to apply to upgrade the lifeline route.
The project will see improvements to the road alignment and the existing tight hairpin bend.Once complete the scheme will improve road safety and journey times by removing the need for vehicles to slow down or stop to negotiate the bend.
Minister for Transport and Islands, Humza Yousaf described the announcement as “a milestone.”
“It is a major step forward to delivering the benefits for road users and local communities.”
Work is expected to get underway in 2018.
