Call for action on drains after flash floods hit Thurso

A CALL has been made to Highland Council to carry out regular checks on drains in Thurso following a flash flood which caused problems in the town this week.

Thurso and North-West Caithness councillor Donnie Mackay is to press roads department officials following the havoc caused by torrential rain on Tuesday afternoon.    

The drains seemed unable to cope with the volume of water which flooded parts of the town centre and created difficulties for drivers at the Toll area and on the A836 road to Castletown.
