THE simple packaging highlights that Caithness Summer Fruits' apricot jam (£2.95) is homemade produce made on a small scale by a local producer.

Although the jam is packed full of apricots there is not much of a taste of apricots. The texture is slightly runnier than expected and the taste is very sweet.

This would be a good jam to use when baking but it doesn't have a distinct enough flavour to hold its own. 3/5 AS
