Sir – I decided to set up a collection at my 21st birthday party to raise money for the children’s ward at Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, and I’d like to say thanks to everyone who donated.

I spent various periods of time in the children’s ward when I was young and felt I wanted to give something back for the care I received.

A total of £490 was raised – this was spent on various toys for the wards which were donated just before Christmas.

Laura Gow,

8 Laurie Terrace,

Thurso.
